Project Description

PERFORMING TECHNIQUE

(Audition Required. Intended for Character Cast members. Runs Sept – May)

Instead of using words, dancers use their bodies and movement to express themselves and bring the choreographers’ vision to life. Facial expressions, eye contact, energy, and enthusiasm help tell the audience what the dancer is feeling and keeps the audience engaged in the performance. For some, performing comes naturally but for most, this is another skill they must practice just like any other dance step. Performing can be a wonderful experience, but at the same time, it can be intimidating or feel unnatural.

The Performing Technique class will help dancers use their imagination, expressive skills and creativity as they learn to effectively portray the mood of each style of dance with confidence. This class time will also be used to teach and clean featured part routines and narrations for our end of year production.
