FLEXIBILITY

Strength and Flexibility

Dancers will focus on building physical fitness and increasing flexibility. Pilates and Yoga technique will be used. Strength and flexibility classes will help supplement dancers in all other genres.

This is a non-performing class which means they will not perform a routine in the Spring Production.

Technique

Technique is the basis of all fundamentals of dance, from holding the body correctly while performing, to executing skills properly in a routine. Strong
technique extends across all areas of dance, regardless of the genre. There is always an element of technique that can be improved upon. Learning solid technique is essential to a dancers’ success; taking only genre classes is simply not enough to produce a skilled dancer. Good technique will ensure a dancer’s longevity, prevent injuries, build strength and flexibility, and refine movement quality. We strongly encourage all our dancers to register for their level of technique class along with their level of genre classes this year.

Strength/Flexibility Class Attire:

  • Black  Camisole Leotard or IDA Fitted Shirt or Tank
  • Black Leggings or Black Fitted Dance Shorts
  • Tan Half Sole Shoes
